Our Service Projects
Our Work with the Kids Kottage:
The Kids Kottage is a local residential home for children up to the age of 18 that have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. Our club provides an ice cream social at the beginning of the school year, as well as an annual holiday party, complete with gifts, Santa and goodies.
Our Work with Washoe County Social Services:
We also work closely with Washoe County Social Services to prepare Totes for Kids, which are backpacks filled with clothing, toys and personal hygiene items that are given to children that are removed from their homes for their own safety. Both Social Services and Law Enforcement have access to these totes, which are sorted by gender and age and are dispersed on an as needed basis.
Our Work with Seniors:
Our club helps the senior women living at T.A.D.S. (Temporary Assistance of Displaced Seniors). Over the years, we have provided Thanksgiving Feasts, Angel Tree gifts, Valentine's Day Dinners, Summer BBQs, we even helped remodel the womens' rooms with new paint and bedding.
We also provide Senior Women's Christmas Gift Bags during the holidays for senior women at Home Instead. Each women receives a variety gifts including a hand crocheted lapghan, See's Candy and a Wal-Mart gift card and assorted goodies. Often, these gift bags are given to women who are on a very limited budget, and the Wal-Mart gift card enables them to purchase gifts, food, or needed medications that they might not otherwise be able to afford.
Our Work with H.E.A.R.T. Dollars - Helping Everyone Always Regardless of Time:
Additional needs are met with funding provided by the generous giving of members through our H.E.A.R.T. Dollars Program. Each quarter, our club donates money to local causes that we believe in. Past recipients include: Moms on the Run, Safe Embrace, Awaken, Casa de Vida, the Jane Aubrey House, Reno's Biggest Little Free Food Pantry Loaves & Fishes, and many more...
